To mark Bob Dylan‘s 80th birthday, singer-songwriter Emma Swift has announced a national Australian tour, set to kick off this June. With tickets for all shows going on sale at 12pm AEST on Thursday (April 22), this run of shows will mark the first time Swift has ever toured nationally with a full band. “I am so, so thrilled to be returning to Australia to play songs from the ‘Blonde on the Tracks’ album live this year,” Swift said in a statement.

“The album has had an enormous amount of love and I can’t wait to come home and sing these songs, as well as a selection of classics and fun rarities from Dylan’s magnificent canon.”

Kate Ceberano: Sweet Inspiration

KC SI email sig small.png
Kate Ceberano has released SWEET INSPIRATION, the 28th album of her extraordinary music career – out now via Sony Music Entertainment Australia.

The album, debuting at #5 on the ARIA Album Chart, features two new original songs ‘Hold On’  and the album’s title track ‘Sweet Inspiration’. Also featured are Kate’s special renditions of some of her favourite songs from the likes of Carole King, Leonard Cohen, Dolly Parton, Peter Allen, Paul McCartney and John Lennon.

Speaking about the album, Kate says “What should have been a very simple, loving collection of favourite songs, recorded (just because) with friends over a few winters day in Melbourne…. turned into an experience that will forever shape my future as an artist.”

Kate explains “The world turned suddenly upside down overnight with panic and unknowns, and singing seemed too simple – inappropriate and indulgent in the face of the times. But Nina Simone says the artist MUST “sing for the times” and so I wrote Sweet Inspiration. Inspired by a strong title and series of chords (thank you Rick Price) they sent me in the right direction.”

Kate continues “The musicians and friends that joined me in the studio, joined me also in the “church of trees” and we played through our confusion and loss, and came out the other side with this beautiful album. Thank you to every one of you.”

In the mid-80s Kate Ceberano came blazing onto the Australian music scene as the front person for pop funk band I’m Talking and went on to notch up five consecutive hit singles and a Platinum album debut. Kate’s music career spans four decades with seven Platinum and seven Gold albums to her name, and multiple ARIA Awards.
